9 Yoga Retreats in Colombia I’d Pick as a Yoga Teacher in 2026
Colombia surprised me in the gentlest way.
Instead of being hit by color, music, and coffee, the country welcomed me with serenity. Between emerald mountains and Caribbean heat, I began to notice how easy it was to slow down here.
Yoga, for me, has never been about perfect poses. Instead, it was a chance to stay still and work through discomfort. Colombia gave me room for that.
I’m a yoga and meditation teacher, I’ve been on several retreats around the world, and I run my own. A retreat is a big investment, so I shortlisted these the way I’d help a friend who asked where to go in Colombia: ratings, reviews, what’s included, and who each one actually suits. If you’re looking to meet yourself somewhere new, Colombia is a beautiful place to begin.

How to Choose a Yoga Retreat in Colombia
Decide your one thing first: silence, an easy first step, movement, a small budget, or something deeper like Ayurveda or ceremony. Then check your non-negotiables, which are how many nights you can spare, whether you want a private room, and whether airport pickup is included.
I spent a month in Colombia, but I haven’t stayed at these retreats myself. I chose them the way I’d look for a retreat for a friend: a BookRetreats rating of 4.5 or higher, real reviews, a clear list of what’s included, and a cancellation policy you can live with. Ratings are the host’s rating, so one host can show the same score on several retreats.
Before you book, check your retreat’s cancellation terms to make sure you’re covered in case something happens. Another pro tip is to get travel insurance that covers Colombia specifically. The usual reasons travelers need it there are altitude sickness in Bogotá, stomach bugs, dengue on the coast, and injuries on hikes in remote areas where the nearest hospital can be far away. I use SafetyWing for all of my trips because it covers medical emergencies up to $250,000 plus evacuation, and you can sign up even after you’ve already left home.

Dos and Don’ts of Colombian Yoga Retreats
✅Do respect altitude and climate.
From cool Andean hills to humid Caribbean coasts, Colombia changes moods quickly. Pack layers, a raincoat, and shoes with good grip for muddy trails.
❌Don’t underestimate travel time.
Arrive a day early and, if possible, arrange your transportation ahead of time.
✅Do learn a little Spanish.
Even a handful of phrases opens doors and smiles. Many yoga instructors tend to switch between Spanish and English.
❌Don’t overpack spiritually.
Bring curiosity more than expectations. The culture here will meet you halfway.
What Should I Pack?
- Reusable bottle and electrolyte tablets
- Natural insect repellent (coastal areas can be lively at dusk)
- Personal yoga mat or towel
- Small notebook for reflections
Many retreats encourage digital detox, but it helps to have access to taxis and family check-ins. I usually rely on Airalo.
- Get 15% off new users with code GLADIS15.
- Get 10% off existing users and top ups with code GLADIS10.
How Safe is Colombia?
The US State Department lists Colombia at Level 3, reconsider travel (issued 31 March 2026), and advises against travel to several border and conflict areas. None of these retreats are in those areas. Check the advisory again before you book.
The CDC recommends yellow fever vaccination for travel to affected areas in Colombia, at least 10 days before you go.
For your peace of mind, I recommend using SafetyWing Nomad Insurance for medical and travel coverage while you’re on the move.
Find Strength in Colombia’s Yoga
If your heart needs a different horizon, let it be in Colombia.
There are no perfect retreats or itineraries. But what Colombia does offer is a little more warmth and patience.
Some of the country’s yoga retreats will strain your muscles. Others may challenge your beliefs, while a few will simply ask you to lie on the earth and listen.
That variety is a gift. All you have to do is choose the retreat that aligns with your goals the most.
If you only book one Book the Tayrona 4-day. It is the most reviewed, the shortest commitment and the easiest first retreat.
