One of the best benefits of slow traveling in Paris is the opportunity to enjoy its breathtaking views from various parts of the city for free. Among all the landmarks in the City of Love – the Eiffel Tower, the Iron Lady, or as the French call it, “La Dame de Fer”.

We spent a whole week wandering around Paris, mostly on foot, and guess what? Aside from going to the famous viewpoints, we also found so many secret spots with the best views of the Eiffel Tower.

So, I’ve compiled a complete list of these spots – including the famous ones and the secret gems where you can catch a glimpse of this iconic tower.

I’ve also created a map to assist you in choosing which locations are near you. Plus, I’ve sneaked the best restaurants with a view in some of these spots.

Several locations on the list are close to each other. I highly recommend taking a walk around the area and exploring different viewpoints of the Eiffel Tower.

1. Champ de Mars

Champ de Mars is our favorite spot for the best views of the Eiffel Tower. It is a slice of tranquility right at the base of the tower.

What I love about this green space is you can set up a picnic here and you can take your time to admire the Eiffel Tower without any rush!

2. Eiffel Tower Carousel and Trocadero Carousel

Did you know that there are two carousels near the Eiffel Tower? Both of them offer amazing views of the tower!

The first one is the Carrousel de la Tour Eiffel, which is located right under the Eiffel Tower next to the Seine River. It’s solar-powered and eco-friendly. Interestingly, it spins clockwise, which is unique for Paris.

The other carousel is situated at Trocadero. This one is more vintage-looking. You’ll find the carousel towards the Trocadero Fountain.

If you have time, why not visit both carousels? It’s a great way to see the tower from different angles and enjoy some classic Parisian experiences.

3. Under the Tower

There is something truly magical about being up close to the Eiffel Tower. Among all the spots to see it from, being right under it is one of the most immersive experiences.

As I stood below the Eiffel Tower, I was overwhelmed with a sense of awe as I gazed up at its intricate architecture.

At that moment, I experienced a rush of emotions, thinking to myself “Wow, I’m right at the Eiffel Tower”. It felt as though I was a part of its story and magic.

To get some unique viewpoints, try different angles when you’re under the Eiffel Tower. And if you’re planning to climb to the top of the tower, make sure to book your ticket well in advance. Tickets tend to get fully booked quickly. We nearly missed getting a ticket.

4. First, Middle, and Top Floor of the Eiffel Tower itself

Many people say skip the Eiffel Tower’s top because it’s too touristy and they claim that what is the Paris skyline without the Eiffel Tower?

But, I convinced my partner to go up, and I’m glad I did. Being on the tower is the best way to experience it. It may sound cheesy, but touching the Iron Lady made me feel like I was part of it.

The Eiffel Tower has three levels with different views. The first two floors are accessible by foot. If you’re not afraid of the 674 stairs, climb the tower. Trust me, it’s an experience you won’t forget.

The first floor, with its transparent glass floor, gives you the thrill of watching Paris pass by beneath you.

On the second floor, you’ll find the Michelin-starred Le Jules Verne, which was one of the filming locations of Emily in Paris. I also think that you’ll find the best views of Paris’ landmarks here.

The top floor is at 276 meters. Witnessing the Eiffel Tower’s light show from this height is an unparalleled experience.

I recommend climbing the tower at least once for the breathtaking vistas and the sheer joy of being part of something so iconic.

5. Banks of the River Seine

Walking along the banks of the River Seine is our favorite way to enjoy the best views of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

We love the Eiffel Tower from the Seine, and it’s a sight that never fails to amaze us, especially at night.

During our walk, we also see historic cafes, boulevards, and even some bands performing.

We also passed under romantic bridges. Even monumental landmarks such as the Louvre and Notre Dame.

Why not take a day to enjoy slow travel in Paris and take a lovely walk along the Seine? It will not disappoint.

6. Seine River Cruise

Although you can see the tower from several bridges along the Seine, only Pont d’Iéna provides a front-and-center view. It feels like you’re in the heart of Parisian magic.

This bridge was designed as a pathway connecting the Ecole Militaire and Champ de Mars to the Trocadero across the Seine.

Sure, it might get a bit crowded, but that’s a testament to the breathtaking views it offers.

8. Trocadero

The Trocadéro is one of the most famous spots to get the best views of the Eiffel Tower up close. So, expect that it can get very crowded.

I recommend either coming before sunrise. You can also walk past the crowds and find a quiet spot on the grass in the gardens around the Trocadéro as we did. Here, you can also watch the beautiful Fountain of Warsaw nearby.

Be careful of pickpockets and scams, like in any busy place.

You can also find the best views of the Eiffel Tower at night here during the light show. It’s magical.

9. Palais de Tokyo

Located across the Seine, this museum offers stunning views that are not commonly known.

The museum has also a café, a bookshop, and several restaurants with terrace seating including Monsieur Bleu.

10. Museum of Architecture & Patrimoine in Palais de Chaillot

From the Left Bank, take a moment to cross the Pont d’Iéna bridge to the Right Bank. Here, you’ll find a hidden treasure – the Cité de l’Architecture & Du Patrimoine.

This museum is located in the iconic Palais de Chaillot at Trocadero. It showcases the rich history of French architecture from the Middle Ages to the modern era.

But the most amazing thing about this place is that its windows provide an exquisite view of the Eiffel Tower. It is framed so beautifully that it feels like a live painting.

There is also a library, auditorium, and a restaurant on-site, offering an enriching way to spend your day in Paris.

11. Palais Galiera

Located across from the Palais de Tokyo, Palais Galliera might not be on every tourist’s radar. But, it’s a gem worth discovering, especially for its stunning view of the Eiffel Tower.

Palais Galliera has a beautiful park where you can admire the tower in all its glory from the museum’s steps.

Fancy dining with a view? Head to Monsieur Bleu and enjoy your meal on their terrace with the Eiffel Tower as your backdrop.

Located at the foot of Palais Galliera, Les Petites Mains sits in a tree-lined square. It faces the Eiffel Tower and offers one of the most picturesque dining experiences in Paris.

12. Rue de l’Université

It’s a long stretch of perfect viewpoints for the tower. It’s a scenic walk through classic Parisian neighborhoods to Champ de Mars.

The area also brims with charming restaurants and chic cafés. It’s perfect for experiencing the local lifestyle while enjoying the city’s iconic backdrop.

16. Square Rapp and Avenue Rapp

This peaceful street is lined with buildings with exquisite wrought iron terraces and art nouveau details. It transports you back to the opulence of 1920s Paris.

What makes Square Rapp unique is it frames a view of the Eiffel Tower. It does this perfectly between two ornate corner buildings.

Because it’s lesser-known, you can capture this iconic sight without the usual crowds.

17. Rue de Monttessuy

If you’re near Palais de Tokyo, make your way up the stairs at Rue de la Manutention. You’ll reach Avenue du President Wilson.

For the best lighting, to visit in the afternoon when the sun casts a golden glow from the west. The rooftops are illuminated, together with the Eiffel Tower. It’s one of the best places to take photos of the Eiffel tower.

Located near the Mexican Embassy in Paris, Place de Mexico is a hidden gem that offers one of the most splendid views of the Eiffel Tower.

Despite its central location, many tourists are unaware of the breathtaking vista it offers.

The district was absorbed into Paris in 1860. But, it still maintains a touch of its former rural charm.

I recommend that you go to Trocadero via Avenue d’Eylau. You’ll be greeted with the full glory of the Eiffel Tower, framed by the elegant facades of the surrounding avenues.

20. Rue Berton

Rue Berton is a hidden gem in Paris. This narrow, cobblestoned path feels like a step back into a quaint French village. Almost nothing like the busy 16th arrondissement of Paris.

Surrounded by trees and ivy-clad walls, it’s a slice of countryside charm right in the city. This spot has an old-world atmosphere that’s hard to find in modern Paris. It takes you back to the days when villages dotted the landscape.

What makes Rue Berton special, though, is the peek-a-boo view of the Eiffel Tower between the buildings. It’s like the Iron Lady herself is playing hide and seek with you.

For the best shot, find the spot alongside the Auguste Perret building. It’s a magical little nook that lets you capture the tower in a way few others can.

21. Pont Alexandre III

From this bridge, you can see iconic Parisian landmarks like Les Invalides and Petit Palais.

22. Pont Bir Hakeim

Among the iconic bridges in Paris, Pont de Bir-Hakeim arguably offers the best views of the Eiffel Tower.

It was built in the early 20th century to span the 15th and 16th arrondissements. This two-level marvel shows a unique view of Paris. One level is for vehicles and pedestrians and the other is for metro Line 6.

This bridge was even featured in the movie “Inception” for its breathtaking views.

Come at night. You’ll see the Eiffel Tower in the middle of a bridge. It’s overlooking the water that reflects beautiful golden lights. It’s absolutely beautiful!

23. Debilly Footbridge

Built in 1900, what truly makes this bridge stand out is its perfect framing of the Eiffel Tower against the Paris skyline. If you’re lucky, you can even capture a photo when a Seine cruise is passing by.

24. Pont Neuf

It’s also one of our favorite bridges to take a walk on in Paris at night, offering some of the best views of the city.

25. Pont des Arts

However, the tradition of attaching locks has faded due to its impact on the bridge and the keys thrown into the Seine. The bridge itself is still a must-visit spot.

From here, you can catch a stunning glimpse of the Eiffel Tower’s top, peeking over the cityscape, with the Seine elegantly curving below.

It’s also the perfect spot for an evening apéro, where you can sip wine and watch the sunset paint the city in golden hues.

26. From the Metro Line 6

Taking the Metro to the Eiffel Tower offers more than a ride, especially if you find yourself on Line 6.

Stay on the train until you’ve crossed the Seine. As you cross the Pont Bir-Hakeim, you get one of the most fantastic views of the Eiffel Tower.

This stretch between Bir Hakeim and Passy is an above-ground secret for catching a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. It’s also a unique photo spot.

Be ready with your camera; this view is fleeting, giving you a few seconds to capture the Iron Lady. It’s a challenging but rewarding way to see the Eiffel Tower from an unexpected angle.

27. Quai Branly Museum

Slowly discovering Paris led us to some amazing secret spots, and guess what? Many of the best Eiffel Tower views are free!

Like the rooftop terrace of Galeries Lafayette on Boulevard Haussmann. From there, you can see the Opera Garnier, classic Haussmannian buildings, and of course, the Eiffel Tower.

The store also houses a stunning Art Deco dome with beautiful stained glass and indoor terraces. During the holiday season, it features a uniquely themed Christmas tree.

29. Sacre Cœur Dome

Sacre Cœur is one of the best places to see beautiful panoramic views of Paris. But did you know that you can even go higher and climb up to the dome of the famous white basilica?

Although it requires climbing 300 steps with no lift, the stunning panoramic view of Paris from the top is worth it.

Don’t forget to take your time and explore the breathtaking interior of the basilica, as well.

30. Rue Azaïs, Montmartre

Rue Azaïs in Montmartre is a hidden gem where you can escape the crowds and catch a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower.

Located a few steps away from the busy Sacré-Coeur and the Wall of Love, this street provides a peaceful spot to admire Paris from above.

Unlike the front of the basilica, Rue Azaïs offers a unique perspective of the city towards the southwest, directly facing the Eiffel Tower.

For an even clearer view, head down to Square Nadar, which is below Rue Azaïs. Find a spot on the second bench, and you’re in for a treat.

This view, free from obstructions like TV antennas, is one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower.

31. Parc de Belleville

Located on a hill, this park has an unmatched vantage point of Paris’s most iconic landmark.

It’s not your typical tourist attraction. It’s a breath of fresh air for those who want to see the city from a different perspective.

The heart of the park is the Belvédère, a pavilion that stands out with its colorful street art.

From there, the view is truly spectacular. You can see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Montparnasse Tower, with the entire city unfolding beneath you.

32. Tour Montparnasse

Montparnasse Tower is the tallest building in Paris after the Eiffel Tower. It offers a 360-degree view of the city, including a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower from its 56th floor.

Although most people visit only for the façade, it also offers a hidden spot to get the best views of the Eiffel Tower. The building pays tribute to France’s revered figures like Voltaire and Marie Curie.

But, you can experience the most spectacular view by climbing up to the dome.

You’ll see the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides, and Saint Sulpice Church, surrounded by the charming rooftops of Paris.

34. From the Top of the Arc de Triomphe

We had our first amazing experience viewing the Eiffel Tower at night from the Arc de Triomphe. It felt like a scene straight out of a romantic movie.

Pro Tip: It does get crowded, so it’s wise to find a spot early. With the Paris Museum Pass, we skipped the long lines.

The entrance to the Arc de Triomphe can be difficult to find as the stairs are located under the roundabout. We tried three ways before nailing it!

You can reach the top of the Arc de Triomphe by foot, using a staircase of 284 steps, or by taking the lift. It’s open until 10:30 pm.

35. Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris

Notre Dame is one of the most iconic places in Paris. It’s perfect for seeing the best views of the Eiffel Tower from up high.

Yes, you’ll have to climb 387 steps to get to the top but trust me, it’s worth it. The breathtaking view from up there is unparalleled! You’ll see the beautiful Seine River, the Eiffel Tower, and even Sacré-Cœur in the distance.

After all that climbing, why not eat French snacks and drink wine at Le Quasimodo Notre Dame? It’s a perfect way to soak in all the beauty of Paris.

36. Les Invalides

Although access to the courtyards and gardens is free, you need a ticket to visit Napoleon’s tomb and other exhibits.

38. Parc de Saint-Cloud

Parc de Saint-Cloud is a tranquil location a short metro ride from central Paris.

It’s an excellent site for a picnic. The gardens, which remain from an old château, used to be the grand residence of nobility like Napoleon Bonaparte.

The château was destroyed long ago. But, you can still find stunning statues, fountains, and gardens that survived. These include one designed by Andre Le Notre, who also designed the Gardens of Versailles.

While at the park, look for the Rond de la Balustrade terrace. It is high above Paris and has the best views of the Eiffel Tower, La Défense’s big buildings, and Montmartre Hill. It’s a fantastic view of Paris from up high.

39. Place de la Concorde and Pont de la Concarde

Located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, Place de la Concorde is the largest square in Paris.

The Luxor Obelisk, a 3,300-year-old gift from Egypt, is also located here. It is not only the oldest thing in Paris but also the world’s largest sundial.

You can also enjoy breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Tuileries.

Take a short walk as well to the Pont de la Concorde bridge. You’ll find stunning views of the Eiffel Tower standing tall next to the serene Seine River.

40. Promenade d’Australie

Located in the 15th arrondissement, Promenade d’Australie offers a perfect close-up of the Eiffel Tower.

This pedestrianized path was created in the 1940s. It offers breathtaking, unobstructed views of the tower against Parisian architecture.

It’s one of the best places to take photos of the Eiffel Tower. I also love it for its quintessentially Parisian charm.

41. Place de Breteuil and Marché Saxe-Breteuil

Located in the 7th arrondissement, Place de Breteuil is a hidden gem that many tourists miss.

The area offers two stunning views – one towards the École Militaire and the iconic Eiffel Tower, and the other towards the grand Invalides. Both are framed by beautiful Haussmannian architecture.

A quick two-minute walk away lies Marché Saxe-Breteuil, a market that’s open on Thursdays and Saturdays.

This market is an excellent opportunity to experience local Parisian life with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop. Wander from south to north, and the tower reveals itself in its full glory.

Shopping at the market feels like being a local, much like our experience at Rue Cler.

42. The Ferris Wheel, Tuileries Garden

You’ll also find an interesting view of the Eiffel Tower at Passy Cemetery, which is one of the quieter cemeteries. Established in 1820, it quickly became the final resting place for Paris’s elite by the 19th century.
